On March 14th, 2024, the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Novi Sad was a gathering place and knowledge-sharing hub for all those aiming to engage youth for transformative change and wanting to unlock the potentials of Bioeconomy.
The Bioeconomy Changemakers Festival is organized by the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission. Total of 30 satellite events across Europe, 18 countries EU Bioeconomy Youth Ambassadors, one high-level event in Brussels, and 15 EU Bioeconomy Youth Ambassadors marked this Festival.
Focus: Gather views for an update on the Bioeconomy Strategy of the European Commission.
Locations: A high-level event in Brussels, more than 30 satellite events across Europe. The satellite event Bioeconomy Changemakers Festival for Serbia is the only one outside the EU and was organized at the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Agriculture.
Main hall of the Faculty of Agriculture was the right spot for showcasing more than 20 EU and nationally-funded projects contributing to reaching Bioeconomy goals, set by the EU Bioeconomy Strategy.
We enjoyed welcoming guests to the EINSTEIN project booth and showing it alongside other reputable projects. Visitors, organisers, and participants expressed much curiosity about our work. EINSTEIN showed the groundbreaking fusion of agriculture, medicine, and technology.
EU Bioeconomy Strategy addresses the production of renewable biological resources and their conversion into vital products and bio-energy. It has 5 goals:
- ensure food and nutrition security,
- manage natural resources sustainably,
- reduce dependence on non-renewable, unsustainable resources,
- limit and adapt to climate change,
- strengthen European competitiveness and create jobs.
There is still a lot of intensive work ahead of us in the coming years, but we are looking forward to this journey and the opportunities that await us to share the knowledge.
