UNS Research Visit to JKU and Staff Exchange

Between 15th of January 2025 and 15th of February 2025, a colleague from University of Novi Sad (UNS), Lazar Milić visited Johannes Kepler University (JKU), Linz Institute for Organic Solar Cells (LIOS) with the goal of strengthening ties with the project partners and not only to collaborate with them in the framework of the EINSTEIN project, but to learn new techniques of fabrication and characterization in the field of bioelectronics.

During his one-month research stay at Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria, supported by project collaborators Mihai Irima-Vladu and Corina Schimanofsky and guided by Prof. Goran Stojanović. They explored the development of flexible, edible substrates made from natural food sources including rucola, red onion, rose hip, and chickpeas. These substrates were characterized electrically and mechanically, and organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) were successfully fabricated on them.

Throughout the stay, he received hands-on training on advanced material characterization and fabrication equipment. This included FTIR spectroscopy (Bruker Vertex 80), dielectric spectroscopy (Novocontrol Alpha-A), profilometry (Bruker stylus profilometer), and OFET fabrication techniques such as metal evaporation, glovebox operation, and spin coating (Labspin 8, SÜSS MicroTec). Device characterization was performed using the B1500A Keysight Semiconductor Parameter Analyzer.

In addition to technical work, Lazar actively engaged with JKU’s diverse team through weekly meetings, training sessions, and cultural events such as the Romanian fiesta night. The stay concluded with a final presentation and team celebration, marking a successful collaboration and knowledge exchange.
